Importance Of Christmas

To you in David's Town this day, is born of David's Line, The Saviour who is Christ the Lord,

Christmas is a promise that was given in the Bible by God so many years about the birth of A Son called Jesus Christ who was to be the saviour, The Light of the world, King of Kings, Lord of Lord, with no end to his kingdom and Power, delivering his people from their sin.  The prophet Isaiah prophesied this about his birth:

Therefore the Lord Himself shall give you a sign: Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call His name Immanuel (Isaiah 7:14).

For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counsellor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). These promises were fulfilled about 700BC.

Other prophesies concerning the birth and person of Jesus Christ:
To Adam and Eve Christ was promised as the Seed who would crush the serpent’s head (Genesis 3:15).

To Abraham ,God had said that in Christ all nations of the earth would be blessed (Genesis 22:18 , Galatians 3:14-16).
To the nation Israel, the Paschal Lamb foreshadowed the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world (Exodus 12 , John 1:29; I Corinthians 5:7).
To the nation Israel again, in the wilderness the serpent of brass lifted upon a pole (Numbers 21:8, 9) typified the lifting up of Christ upon the cross (John 3:14).
Balaam’s prophecy of the Star that would come forth out of Jacob (Numbers 24:17) was none other than our Lord Jesus Christ (Matthew 2:2; Revelation 22:16).
Christ was also the smitten Rock (Numbers 20:11I Corinthians 10:4) and the greater Prophet (Deuteronomy 18:15).

When Philip first met Jesus Christ he ran to Nathanael, and said: “We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth . . . ” (John 1:45).
Today Jesus Christ is born in our hearts again. A sign of rededication and Hope . Glory to the newborn king! Peace to earth and mercy mild, God and sinners reconciled. Joyful, all ye nations rise. Heavenly hosts sing Alleluia! Christ, the saviour is born, Christ the saviour is born. Jesus Lord at thy birth, Jesus Lord at thy birth. Hail the heaven born Prince of Peace, Hail the Son of righteousness, Light and life to all He brings. Born to raise the sons of earth, Born to give them a second birth. Hark! The herald angels sing, "Glory to the newborn King"! It's not enough for Jesus to be born into this world, He must be born in your life. A New life, full of hope and purpose.  That's the importance of Christmas. If you confess him with your mouth and believed in your heart as your Lord and personal saviour then you're really experiencing a re-birth of Christmas-Romans 10:9.

Merry Christmas everyone, Another year of His favour we have experienced, wishing you a Great 2012 under His Wings and Power! Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
